First of all, let's talk about the lyrics. It's an awful song put to pleasant vocals and nice harmonies. But if you really listen to the lyrics, they are so mean. Don't believe or haven't read them, go here. Okay, so the song is about a guy who is going out with two women. Alas, he's breaking up with one but he really doesn't want to. But the other girl is really sweet and deserves better. (Read, he's was going to be caught and is covering his bases).
So, basically, this guy is a jerk. "Baby, I really do love you but that other girl is super nice and so it's over. But I love you." The lyrics that get me the most are: "And she deserves better than that." Then why did you cheat on her to begin with? What is sweet about this song when you think about it?
Now the video. First, the plot. I have no problem with What's His Name being a boxer. Nor, do I find it that odd that a boxer would be dating a showgirl. However, they need to clarify somethings. Is she the dumpee or the one he's staying with? Next, certain aspects bug me. Well, obviously they do otherwise they wouldn't be on this page. Why can't these boys wear pants that fit? Those suckers could be tents. Were they not they raised to make sure the waist of the pants meets the waist of their bodies? Next, why, when the showgirl is off stage, in the training area thing, does she have on so much make-up? Not that I go to boxing training areas but I wouldn't think that much eye shadow is necessary. Now, there are four guys in the band right? Then why does the guy who is the boxer also have to play announcer? Is the place they are that cheap that they have to announce themselves? What is up with the ruffled tuxedo shirt when he does announce?
You may ask yourself "If she doesn't like this why does she watch it?" I'll tell you. I like the Backstreet Boys (actually I just think Kevin is a beautiful man and enjoy him in great amounts). So, when their video went off Total Request Live (love Carson too), I had to do something after General Hospital ended and the time that the Korn video would come on. I started analyzing the other videos. To let you know, this isn't even the one I dislike the most. That honor goes to the Jordan Knight video and song. But I refuse to sit through that again to give it proper analysis. As I said before, this is my opinion. You don't have to agree. However, if you do, that's great.
